The Melrose Trading Post is widely regarded as an incredibly successful nonprofit partnership in the history of the Los Angeles Unified School District. The Melrose Trading post offers a curated, ever-changing array of arts and crafts, vintage fashion, antique furniture, handcrafted artisan goods and one-of-a-kind treasures. MTP is managed by Greenway Arts Alliance, a non-profit committed to supporting the community. MTP is Described as a cool, eclectic gem of a place to find treasures and rare goodies, the Melrose Trading Post is a great Sunday destination
 
The Melrose Trading Post, through admission and vendor fees, helps directly support provide jobs for students, and fund field trips, sports equipment, beautification projects, teacher programs, theatre productions, and more programs for Fairfax High School students. Held every Sunday in the parking lot of Fairfax High School, the weekly antiques and collectibles market is home to nearly 250 vendors. With 3000 to 6000 customers a week, it’s the perfect place to people watch and shop!
 
The admission fee goes directly to support programs for Fairfax High School students.
 
Greenway offers Fairfax students a wide array of jobs, paid internships, after school classes and volunteer opportunities through the Melrose Trading Post. To be considered for a position, Fairfax students must fill out an application; have at least a 2.5 GPA, a work permit and a letter of recommendation from a Fairfax teacher or school administrator. Positions are available year-round but most students are hired at the beginning of the school year.
