Dear Mr. Choi,
In January of 2024, Fairfax hosted the Red Sand Project, an important awareness initiative aimed at sparking conversations within our school community about human trafficking and the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC).
This main component of the project entails filling pavement cracks with red sand as a symbolic approach to represent those individuals who fall through the metaphoric cracks and fall victim to the crime of human trafficking and CSEC. Last year, the project was able to reach many Fairfax students with crucial information and resources.
This campaign is intended to align with National Human Trafficking Prevention Month in January, but has been postponed to late February due to the wildfires. In addition to filling the pavement cracks, we will provide various activities and materials for students and the broader school community to engage with the cause, and foster discussions around this critical issue throughout the school year.
Ms. Stephens and I are hoping to host the project during lunchtime on Thursday, February 27th in the upper quad. Please let us know as soon as you are able whether we have your approval to go forward with the project this year, and if any modifications are needed to the date or time.
Please let Ms. Stephens or I know if you have any questions for us about how we plan to execute the project at Fairfax.
For any specific questions or additional information about the Red Sand Project, feel free to reach out to the project lead, Dr. Linet Danoukh, at [email protected].
Thank you for your support in raising awareness about such an important issue.
Best regards,
