Good Afternoon Fairfax SPED Department,
McBride will be hosting the 2-day Behavior Emergency – Prevention and Response Training (BE-PaRT) (known as the B-SET Training in the past) on Saturdays 10/21/23 and 10/28/23. Fairfax admin has collaborated with McBride admin and has 10 slots available for Fairfax certificated and classified staff (at least one member must be certificated). This is a unique opportunity as it will occur on Saturdays and will be paid.
Please e-mail me if you are committing to participating in this training opportunity by Friday 10/13/2023.
Make sure you read the bullets below for some of the pertinent information prior to e-mailing me with your confirmation.
- In accordance with California Education Code Section 56520, et seq., the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), Division of Special Education provides Behavior Emergency – Prevention and Response Training (BE-PaRT) on the use of emergency interventions to staff. These emergency interventions can be used to support students who may engage in spontaneous, unpredictable behavior that poses clear and present danger of serious physical harm to the individual or others. LAUSD’s BE-PaRT training utilizes Safety-Care Training developed by QBS, Inc. in conjunction with District policy related to behavioral emergencies.
- BE-PaRT is a mandatory two-day initial certification training with an annual mandatory one-day BE-PaRT recertification training to maintain certification.
- Training time is 8am-3pm (with a 1-hour lunch).
- All staff being trained must attend both days of training and will not only arrive on-time, but will also remain for the entirety of the training hours.
- Participants must be in the training room at 8am and cannot leave until they are dismissed by the trainers or 3pm (whichever comes first)
- Participants will return from breaks on time.
- No participant will be on their computers or doing other work or none training tasks.
- Participants should wear closed toe shoes and should ensure that that the soles of their shoes will not cause them to slip
- Participants understand that the training requires them to use physical management on others and that physical management will be applied to them
- Participants who do not abide by these requirements will be asked to leave and will not be certified.
- Staff that are not being trained cannot be in the training room and cannot “audit” the training.
- All participants must be current LAUSD employees
Thank you,
