One major component of the UC Applications PIQs (Personal Insight Questions) and Private School Applications is community Service. Schools want to know what you have done to give back to your community.
 
Below and attached is information on great Community Service opportunities at Food Pantries around Los Angeles.
The longer you commit to community service the better it looks on your applications.

9th, 10th, and 11th graders start today! Or make sure you commit to it this summer!

Will you volunteer to combat food insecurity in Los Angeles?

As of 2021, roughly 1 million L.A. County residents do not know where their next meal will come from - yet CA produces half the nation's fruits and vegetables!

How can you help?

Some of our fantastic partners are hard at work every day to help Angelenos affected by food insecurity. From preparing groceries to distributing food, you can help fight hunger in Los Angeles.
Below are Four Opportunities to Help Feed L.A. Suitable For High School Students!
 

SOVA Food Pantry 

Locations Van Nuys, CA 91406 
 
Shifts 
Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 1:30pm
Fridays 9:00am - 11:30am
Sundays 8:00am - 12:00pm
 
Description: Volunteers will help prepare groceries to be picked up by
individuals in need or deliver to their homes.

Description Volunteers will help prepare coffee and to-go breakfast plates along with staff.

Location Lincoln Heights Los Angeles, CA  90031
Shifts Thursdays 2:30pm - 6:00pm
 
Description Along with staff, you will help pack dried and hot goods into boxes and distribute food boxes to community.
