Fee Waivers

What is a fee waiver?
Individualized services offered through various agencies to allow qualifying students to register or participate free of charge. You may be able to qualify for fee waivers for:
Testing
* SAT Testing (2 fee waivers) - why two? because it is ideal you take the exam twice. Available in the College Center, based on the students LAUSD meal application status
* SAT subject Exam Testing - (2 fee waivers) - why two? because it is ideal you take the exam twice. Available in the College Center, based on the student's LAUSD meal application status.
* ACT Testing (2 fee waivers) - why two? because it is ideal you take the exam twice. Available in the College Center, based on the students LAUSD meal application status
* AP Testing (unlimited) - this is a cost reduction fee waiver not completely free. Example: instead of paying $94 per exam you may pay $5 - $15+ per exam depending on the school. This fee waiver is automatic based on the student's LAUSD meal application status.
College Applications
* UC application fees (up to 4 colleges) this is an online fee waiver embedded in the UC application. You may apply during the beginning of senior year October - November. This fee waiver is processed online only.
* CSU application fees (up to 4 colleges) this is an online fee waiver embedded in the CSU application. You may apply during the beginning of senior year October - November. This fee waiver is processed online only.
* Common Application - application fee waiver vary and may be unlimited. These are online fee waivers embedded in the common application. You may apply during the beginning of senior year August. This fee waiver is processed online only by your academic counselor.
* College Board College Application Fee Waivers (up to 4 colleges): students who use a fee waiver to take the SAT qualify for this service. Fee waiver codes may be accessed via the student's College Board account. Fee waivers are only valid for participating colleges.

Who Qualifies for a Fee Waiver
Fee waivers are available to low-income 11th and 12th-grade students in the U.S. or U.S. territories. U.S. citizens living outside the country may be able to have test fees waived. SAT Subject Test fee waivers are available for students in grades 9–12.
You're eligible for fee waivers if you say "yes" to any of the following qualifying factors:
- You're enrolled in or eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
- Your annual family income falls within the Income Eligibility Guidelines set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service.
- You're enrolled in a federal, state, or local program that aids students from low-income families (e.g., Federal TRIO programs such as Upward Bound).
- Your family receives public assistance.
- You live in federally subsidized public housing or a foster home or are homeless.
- You are a ward of the state or an orphan.
Requesting a fee waiver
Students who received a fee waiver for the SAT School Day 2020 may have a second fee waiver available via their College Board account. Turn off your pop up blocker before logging in for the fee waiver is a pop-up.

- Your full name (include middle initial),
- Which waiver are you in need of,
- Note how you qualify for the waiver, and
- Include the best phone number to reach you in case there are questions.
